Vintage Tuareg silver metal carnelian statement ring, West Africa T12

Description

Mid century vintage Tuareg ring from Niger, West Africa. The ring is made from silver colored mixed metal with an engraved design that has been worn smooth through many decades of use and a dark burgundy carnelian stone. These rings were traditionally worn either on the finger or as a hair decoration [see last photo for similar rings being worn in a traditional setting]. The ring is unisex and is a wonderful piece of African history. It is in good condition given its age and origin. See similar ring on the cover of 'The World of Rings' by Anne van Cutsem.
