Description
Hello all .I am offering a vintage Japanese Ford Service double sided porcelain sign rescued from the city of Hiroshima , Japan some years ago .
In Japanese the sign reads "FORD" horizontally and "TOKUYAKUHABAITEN" vertically . "TOKUYAKUHABAITEN" translates roughly to "a specialty dealer store" .
The sign has no maker or dealer markings . It shows heavy sings of rust , bent edges , and chipping (please refer to the pictures) .
This "shield-style" sign measures 34" x 24" .
After searching the internet for some time I am unable to find hardly any information on the sign .
It has been brought to my attention that the Ford Motor Co. was not involved in the Japanese market between 1941 to 1974 due to the Second World War and its lasting impacts thereafter . With this being the case , a 2highly reputable and knowledgeable Ford historian dates this particular sign between the years of 1927-1941 (thanks Lucas) .
I am by no means any expert and with no other information regarding this sign available , all I can do it state assumptions .
It is unlikely you will ever see a sign like this again .
If you have any additional information about this piece you'd like to share , please feel free to let me know .
USA shipping will include tracking , insurance , and signature conformation and will cost the buyer 0.oo . If the cost of shipping ends up being less , I will refund the difference . Local pickup is also available and preferred .
International shipping is available , but special rates apply and all import taxes/fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer .
Reasonable offers may be considered , but the sign will only appreciate in value as the years pass .
Thanks for looking .
